Michael W. ArnoldI started my fitness journey back in 2024 with a simple goal: 50k steps on the treadmill under my desk each week.
That was a great starting point and a good foundation, but things change. I don’t work from home any more, for one.
New Fitness Goals
Each week I need to accomplish any combination of the following at least five times:
- 40 minute bike commute to the office
- 6,500 steps at 5% incline on the treadmill
Weekly Average Steps
My cardio journey started in August 2024. For all of 2025 and the first part of 2026, I was hitting a 50k step target on the desk treadmill. (0% incline, ~2mph while working.)
In May 2026, I moved to a new job working downtown. I don’t wear a step tracker and leave my phone at my desk mostly. So, I’m not actively tracking steps anymore. But… steps are being replaced by cycling now that I cycle to work.
