Alexander Graham Bell
Although born in Scotland, Alexander Graham Bell is considered one of this country’s greatest inventors. His greatest invention, the telephone, was the result of his interest in helping the deaf and hard of hearing. The first telephone was introduced to the public in 1876 at the Centennial Exposition in Philadelphia. Most of those people who saw the new device did not believe it to have any future.
